How creators earn tokens

This page explains how earnings work on Mintybug™. Dollar amounts and schedules can change; your Earnings dashboard is the source of truth for your balance.

1. Where earnings come from

Readers spend tokens when they use AI features on the platform (for example continuing a story, branching, or other generation). When those tokens are spent in connection with your published work, you receive a share of the revenue attributed to that usage—not the raw tokens themselves.

  • Published novels — After readers pass the free chapter allowance, they pay tokens per chapter. For each paid chapter, you earn 140 tokens credited toward your earnings (the rest covers platform and model costs). Branching from a chapter uses a separate token charge; when readers branch from your story, you earn 700 tokens toward earnings for that branch action.
  • Templates & playthroughs — When players use tokens on experiences built from your templates, usage is tracked and converted into revenue the same way; your share is reflected in your earnings breakdown over time.

2. Revenue split

Token spend is converted to revenue (USD) using the platform's pricing. Of that revenue, creators receive 70% and the platform retains 30% for infrastructure, models, payment processing, and operations.

3. Getting paid

To withdraw, connect a payout account (Stripe Connect) from your Earnings onboarding page when available. Withdrawals are subject to minimums and holds—for example, a minimum of $10 and a hold of approximately 7 days on new earnings (see Withdraw for current limits).

Stripe and card networks charge fees on payouts; net amounts may be slightly lower than gross earnings shown in the dashboard.

4. Referrals (bonus tokens)

Inviting new users can earn bonus tokens (not cash) when referrals qualify—for example, referrers may receive 3,000 tokens and referees 2,000 tokens, subject to program rules and caps such as 5 referrals per account.
