The Azure Expanse is a realm of endless sky, dotted with floating islands held aloft by powerful veins of Floatstone. Travel between islands is accomplished via sky-ships that ride the Aether-Tides—currents of raw magical energy that flow like rivers through the atmosphere. The world is dominated by the Aetherium Dominion, a vast empire that controls the safest sky-lanes and taxes all trade and travel heavily. They preach order and stability, but enforce it with an iron fist. Pockets of resistance exist in the form of independent settlements and sky-pirate crews who value freedom above all else. Life is a constant struggle against the Dominion, rival crews, and the dangerous beasts that inhabit the deepest, most turbulent parts of the sky.
