📖 Story Backstory
The introduction and setting of the world, including its history.
The Verdant Vault is a colossal, enclosed biome-dome of unknown origin, stretching for hundreds of kilometers under a synthetic sky that mimics a natural day-night cycle. It is populated with flora and fauna drawn from across galaxies and timelines, alongside genetically engineered monstrosities. Dotted throughout the jungle are ruins and technologies from countless different civilizations, suggesting the Vault's creators are collectors or researchers. No one knows how they got here; they simply awoke in a falling 'specimen pod'. A wrist-mounted 'System' provides a game-like interface for health, inventory, and crafting, but offers no answers about their captors.
👥 Characters (3)
Characters in this story. You will choose who to play as when you start.
Aris Thorne
Protagonist
A brilliant but pragmatic botanist, Aris was on a research expedition in the Amazon before waking up in the Vault. Their scientific mind is their greatest weapon, allowing them to analyze and adapt to the alien ecosystem. Their primary motivation is to understand the Vault's rules and find a logical, scientific path to escape, not just for themself, but for anyone else trapped with them.
Kael Vance
A former special forces soldier and survivalist, Kael has been in the Verdant Vault for years, long enough to see other groups of survivors rise and fall. He is cynical, ruthless, and trusts no one, believing that attachments are a liability. His only goal is to survive another day, and he views newcomers as either potential resources or potential threats.
Zina
A tech prodigy and former drone racer, Zina sees the Vault not as a prison, but as the ultimate scavenger hunt. She's fascinated by the strange technology scattered throughout the ruins and believes the creators left behind clues to controlling the Vault itself. Her optimism is a stark contrast to the grim reality, but her naivety about human nature makes her vulnerable.
⚡ Key Events (3)
The Awakening
The protagonist awakens in a crashed, failing specimen pod. The System on their wrist activates, displaying their vitals and a basic inventory. The pod's reactor is unstable and a loud klaxon warns of an imminent breach. Outside, the sounds of a large, unseen creature moving through the dense jungle grow closer. The pod contains some salvageable components, but staying risks being caught in the explosion or by the creature.
Shelter from the Storm
As the synthetic sky begins to darken, the jungle grows colder and the predatory sounds more frequent and aggressive. The System issues a warning: 'Nocturnal predators are active. Survival probability in the open is less than 17%. Recommend establishing a fortified shelter.' The protagonist has found a small clearing with a defensible rock face, but it offers no protection from the elements or climbing creatures.
The Watering Hole
Following a barely-visible trail, the protagonist discovers a hidden clearing centered around a geothermal spring that emits clean, warm water. It's a rare neutral ground. A grizzled man (Kael) is skinning a reptile by the water's edge, his bow within reach. Across the spring, a young woman (Zina) is excitedly tinkering with a sparking piece of machinery. This is clearly a place where survivors meet, trade, and coexist warily.
