📖 Story Backstory
The introduction and setting of the world, including its history.
Three years ago, the 'Ninja System' manifested globally. Overnight, every human over eighteen awakened the ability to use chakra and ninjutsu based on the power system of a forgotten anime called 'Naruto' that no one remembers watching. The world adapted quickly. Chakra replaced some energy sources; ninjutsu became integrated into daily jobs and services. Everyone is rated at awakening: D to SSS rank, based on chakra capacity and affinity. Most have one of five basic elemental affinities. Rare individuals (0.1%) awaken Kekkei Genkai (bloodline limits) like Ice Release, Lava Release, or visual jutsu like the Sharingan. The Sharingan is publicly deemed a low-tier support ability because its documented powers are minimal (enhanced perception, slight predictive capability) and its evolution path is unknown/considered mythical. A government-regulated Ninja Academy system exists for combat and civil service roles, but many citizens live ordinary lives using ninjutsu for mundane tasks. A shadowy organization called 'Root' is rumored to be hunting those with unique or evolving bloodline limits, but this is considered conspiracy theory by most.
👥 Characters (4)
Characters in this story. You will choose who to play as when you start.
Protagonist (default: Ren)
Protagonist
A young adult who awakened the Sharingan three years ago. Classified as a D-rank support ability, it's considered nearly useless in the ninjutsu-centric society. Works at a small independent bookstore 'Scroll & Leaf'. Prefers a quiet, solitary life, avoiding the spotlight and ninja institutions. Has a secret: his Sharingan sometimes activates involuntarily, showing him fleeting glimpses of chakra flows or memories that aren't his—like echoes from the forgotten anime. He fears what evolving his eyes might cost.
Sora Tanaka
Neutral
Lives in the apartment next door. Works for the City Greenery Department, using water-style ninjutsu to nurture public parks and gardens. Bubbly and neighborly, she's the one who brings over extra soup and checks in on people. Secretly, she's a B-rank water-nature user with exceptional control, but she downplays it to avoid being recruited into more demanding roles. She heard strange chakra signatures in the alley last night and is concerned.
Kaito 'The Archivist'
Neutral
The owner of 'Scroll & Leaf Bookstore'. A retired ninja-theory historian from before the Awakening. He is one of the few who remembers fragments of the 'Naruto' anime and suspects the truth about the Ninja System's origins. He knows the Sharingan's true potential and has been quietly observing the protagonist. He collects forbidden texts on bloodline limits and the Law of Equivalent Exchange.
Aiko Sato
Neutral
A compliance officer for the Ninja Regulation Bureau (NRB), assigned to monitor low-profile bloodline limit users. Officially, she's there to ensure registration compliance and public safety. Unofficially, she's a deep-cover agent for the shadowy organization 'Root', tasked with identifying and assessing potential threats—or assets—among those with unique Kekkei Genkai. She is methodical, patient, and utterly convinced her work is for the greater good of 'stability'.
⚡ Key Events (7)
The Whisper in the Alley
The protagonist must decide whether to investigate Sora's concern about the alley or go about their normal day. Investigating reveals faint, strange chakra residue—cold and invasive, unlike any natural element. It leads to a missing neighborhood cat and a dropped emblem bearing a root symbol. Ignoring it leads to a normal day at work where Kaito casually mentions 'roots seeking nourishment in the dark.' Either way, the event plants a seed of unease.
The Unseen Customer
At the bookstore, a quiet, well-dressed customer browses the ninja theory section for an unusually long time. They ask pointed questions about visual jutsu and bloodline limit registries. Their chakra feels suppressed and controlled. Kaito becomes subtly more alert.
Sora's Overflow
Sora invites the protagonist to the greenhouse after hours. She's excited but anxious—she accidentally made a rare lotus bloom overnight using an advanced technique, and the chakra surge was noticeable. She worries someone sensed it.
Kaito's Test
Kaito 'misplaces' a specific, obscure text on Sharingan folklore in the public section of the store. He watches to see if the protagonist finds it and shows interest.
The Compliance Visit
Aiko Sato visits the Scroll & Leaf Bookstore during a slow period. She presents her NRB credentials and asks routine questions about employee chakra registrations and store inventory of ninja-theory materials. Her gaze lingers on the protagonist a moment too long. She leaves a mandatory 'Chakra Safety' pamphlet.
The Echo in the Rain
Caught in a sudden downpour, the protagonist takes shelter in a covered bus stop. Aiko is already there. A moment of awkward silence is broken by the distant, distorted echo of a scream—cut short. Aiko's professional mask slips for a microsecond, her eyes narrowing as she looks toward the sound. She then calmly states it was probably a jutsu mishap from the training district.
The Missing Page
Kaito pulls the protagonist aside, agitated. A specific, sensitive page from one of his forbidden folios—detailing early-stage Sharingan symptoms—is missing. It was there before Aiko's visit. He doesn't accuse outright, but the implication hangs in the air. The page could be anywhere: stolen, misplaced, or copied.
